Little Room Left For Specialists
Dec 19, 2024Radio groups are going to have to continue to get by with smaller staffs. But, I would encourage all groups to compensate those smaller staffs more competitively and for radio employees to become as well-rounded as possible. Because, going forward there is unlikely to be any room left in our industry for specialists. Those who have already survived, and continue to do so, will do all of the following things.

A New Beginning for the New Year Promotion!
Dec 18, 2024You can give a less fortunate family a new beginning for the new year! We’ve all heard of the Adopt a Family promotion. You can switch that to an Adopt a Wishlist! Take write-ins or call-ins with suggestions on a family who could benefit from this. This is a great way to take phoners.
Set Your Goals For 2025
Dec 18, 2024Write your “State of the Station Report.” List what promotions and contests were conducted throughout the fall with dates and note what the competition did. Also, examine competitive changes in programming, music, external marketing, and ratings that occurred in the last six months.

The Edison Research 2024 Survey Shows Significant Radio Listenership
Dec 13, 2024An estimated 172 million people own a radio in their household while only 98 million people own a smart speaker in their house. This is great news for those of us who know radio isn’t a “dying media.” Moreover, the survey found AM/FM radio in their vehicle is listened by 70% of those surveyed while 55% listen to online audio, and 32% listen to podcasts.
