LinkedIn conducted a survey finding what skills are necessary in today’s job climate. Now, with new technology coming up, it seems, yearly, we need to be aware what knowledge we should have before going into a new career; and that includes radio. As you probably know, AI is at the top of the list.

According to the report, by 2030, “70% of the skills used in most jobs will change.” Here’s the list, in order, of what LinkedIn found to be the most sought after skills:

  1. AI Literacy: Clearly, artificial intelligence is being implemented everywhere, including radio. It’s crucial to know how to use this tool and have the capability to understand different variations including Chat GPT.
  2. Conflict Mitigation: Many are still working from home. Having the ability to decipher what could be a conflict or simply a misread email or message will determine how the rest of the conversation goes. This is important in radio when speaking through email with sales or management.
  3. Adaptability: This is crucial in radio. You may get hired to do on air, but that’s not the only hat you’ll wear.
  4. Process Optimization: Pertaining to radio, this piggybacks on adaptability. Operational efficiency is key in radio, hence the amount of hats everyone wears.
  5. Innovative Thinking: Creativity is on of the most important aspects of a staff member in radio. Couple that with problem solving and you have an employee AI can’t replace.
