I love the 90s grunge sound is making a comeback and new bands are embracing it as their own. The almost ethereal feel to the vocals and chorus make it easy to close your eyes and get lost in the music. I’ve been going to a lot of indy shows showcasing the dark and deep bass tones. We’ve covered a few bands and artists embracing this sound. This goes for the shoegaze group hailing from Orange County, California. Fronted by Alex Brady on bass and Keyan Pourzand on guitar, with backing on drums from Dillon Lee, they’ve been together since 2019.

All in their very early 20s, the group has already toured Europe. Before we get to that point, let’s take it back to high school, which wasn’t so long ago for this trio. Lee and Keyan met in high school. While Pourzand was introduced to Middle Eastern music, Lee grew up on 90s alternative rock, thanks go his mom. According to an article in Teen Vogue, Lee and Keyan kept running into Alex at house shows so they asked if she’d want to join them. Brady followed not long after.

Enter Covid, making it almost impossible to have any live shows. However, that didn’t stop them from releasing a few singles, including flutter, which has over 39 million listens on Spotify! A couple years later they started playing a few small venues. In 2023 Julie released a few more singles.

After lots of requests from fans asking for a full length album, they finally released “My Anti-Aircraft Friend” on September 13th of this year through Atlantic Records.  As of today, they have tour dates next year scheduled for across the pond, but nothing in the states.
