Winter promotions! It’s time to start thinking about snow, Santa, and all the things it seems too early to even acknowledge. It never hurts to be ready and have all your ducks in a row. Get started now, and you won’t be stressing at the end of the month.

The easy and obvious giveaways are all about paying for people’s presents at stores, and delivering gifts to those in need. Try to think outside the box a little.

  • We often cater to families around the holiday season. What about the singles, or those who don’t have family? It could be a difficult season where someone would like to get out of town. Enter…Christmas Cruises! You’d have to start prep asap, but it could happen. Cruise.com has an entire list of cruises setting sail in December.
  • Ask listeners to submit the Scroogiest person they know, including descriptions and reasons why they are so grumpy. The winner will receive a visit from Santa and the station, as well as gifts. Try to turn that Scrooge into a Griswold!
  • Speaking of Griswold… is there a house in your neighborhood that goes above and beyond with lights? Someone who does it themselves and doesn’t hire anyone or a company to hang everything. Winner gets a GC to Lowes or Menards. Santa will go to their house to let them know they won and hand them their winnings, with the radio station in tow, filming the entire event.
  • I know we usually shop online these days. However, for those that like to go in stores, give away a parking space! Clearly, the store would be involved. Get a sign made for the front row parking space at the Target or Walmart in your area. For the month of December, that parking space is theirs! It’s up to you how you find a winner.
  • Buy a bunch of those advent calendars with the toys inside. Harry Potter, LEGO, Peppa Pig .. those are very popular. Start now and every week leading up to December 1st, you can give a couple away on Friday. Kids go BANANAS for those, but they’re pricey, especially if you have more than one kid. OR you could save them all, chose a few winners at the end of November, and give them away then.
  • Finally, a big one. Give away a VAN! Spin it like “you need something bigger to haul all those gifts.”

As always, these are just jumping off tips. Get creative and get in the holiday spirit!
